Notifications
Traise keeps you informed in real time — incoming calls ring your browser, new messages appear instantly, and task updates push to you without a page refresh. This page explains how to make sure those alerts actually reach you.
Browser notification permissions
Section titled “Browser notification permissions”Traise uses your browser’s built-in notification system to surface alerts when you’re in another tab or window.
- The first time you use Traise, your browser will ask whether to allow notifications. Click Allow.
- If you accidentally clicked Block, open your browser’s site settings for your Traise URL and change the Notifications permission to Allow, then reload the page.
Phone audio device setup
Section titled “Phone audio device setup”For calls to work correctly — so you can hear callers and so your ring device fires on inbound calls — you need to select your microphone, speakers, and ring device.
- Open the Phone panel on the left sidebar.
- Click the gear icon (Audio Settings) at the top of the Phone panel.
- Set each of the three devices:
- Microphone — the input device you speak into
- Speakers — where you hear the caller
- Ring Device — the output device that plays the inbound ring tone (can be the same as Speakers, or a separate device like a desk speaker)
- Use the test buttons to confirm each device is working before you take your first live call.
SMS notifications
Section titled “SMS notifications”SMS notification preferences are configured per-location by your administrator. If you are not receiving SMS alerts as expected, contact your admin to verify the settings for your location.
How real-time updates work
Section titled “How real-time updates work”Traise maintains a persistent WebSocket connection while you’re logged in. This means:
- Calls ring instantly without polling — no page refresh needed.
- Messages (SMS and chat) appear in your thread as soon as they arrive.
- Task assignments and updates push to you the moment a teammate makes a change.
If updates stop appearing live, try refreshing the page to re-establish the connection.
